Tro-Bro Léon - Backaert, last year 2nd, hunting for victory

On Sunday besides Amstel Gold Race the lesser known Tro-Bro Léon (1.1, 15/04) is on the program of our team. This beautiful race will be ridden on unmerciful unpaved roads in Brittany. Last year Frederik Backaert stranded in second place behind winner Damien Gaudin after a strong race. Backy is eager for revenge and is also in 2018 captain in his favorite race. Besides Backaert, sports director Steven De Neef calls on Fabien Doubey, Wesley Kreder, Boris Vallée, Kévin Van Melsen and Pieter Vanspeybrouck. Backaert looks ahead with great ambition.

Frederik Backaert:

"Tro-Bro Léon is my favorite race for many reasons. The Breton landscape is comparable with the Flemish Ardennes. That often produces beautiful landscapes. The atmosphere in the race is also fantastic. There is a Breton atmosphere and there are many fanatic people along the side in a crazy cycling area. Furthermore the race is ridden on farm lanes and it is also 200 kilometers long. As the icing on the cake the winner gets a piglet and there is a special bronze trophy. "

"My Flemish classics fell into the water after E3 Harelbeke. I suffered from a respiratory infection and in Tour of Flanders I just could not join the favorites on Koppenberg. After a tough spring I am also ready for a rest period, but I will go full once more this weekend. On Sunday I want to win "

"On Saturday there is a nice, hilly race with Tour du Finistère. Last year I was already fifth. This is also a race where I want to shine, otherwise I would not start there. From the team I expect a good Fabien Doubey this weekend and certainly a strong performance from our Guillaume Martin on Saturday, who last week won Circuit de Sarthe.
He is the man in shape. "
