Taihu Lake (Prologue) : Vallée with a strong debut

The prologue of the Tour de Taihu Lake (2.1, 7-14/10) meant the debut of Wanty-Groupe Gobert on Chinese soil. The team wanted to perform well from the start. The early start in the morning (9h30) permitted the riders to dig deep. In the end it was Boris Vallée who finished in the best WGG-time and thus took a top 10. Boris thus is immediately in a good position in the GC. The Belgian sprinter is now 12 seconds behind the New Zealandian Kennett. On Monday the first stage will take place in local laps in Wuxi over 85 kilometers.

Boris Vallée :

« I prepared well for this race. I already felt good in Münsterland Giro, where I was taken by surprise by the echelons. The journey here took almost 25 hours. I am used to these kind of transfers and I know what I have to do. I feel pretty good recovered. »

« I felt quite good in the prologue. I hope my performances will steadily improve and we can win a stage with our collective. The team is strong, especially with Wesley Kreder and Mark McNally. The seven stages to come look good for us. We aim for a stage win with one of our riders. For the GC we have to see. It is important to be present on the home soil of our clothing partner Santic. »
