In a crash in a descent in GP de Wallonie on Wednesday Jérôme Baugnies fractured his 8th thoracic vertebra . Baugnies was immediately operated in the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire from Liège in Sart-Tilman. Our rider is doing well after a successful operation. Medical report with doctor Joost De Maeseneer.
Joost De Maeseneer (doctor Wanty-Groupe Gobert) :
“Everything evolves in a positive way. Thursday a check scan will permit to confirm that the operation has gone well so that Jérôme can return home soon. Thanks to the medical progress in recent years this type of operation is far more effective than before. "
"Jérôme will have to wear a corset for a couple of weeks but there is no danger for his mobility, nor for his career. It will take several months for him to resume competition but to restart at the beginning of the 2018 cycling season is achievable."
