Marseille : De Gendt top 10 in his debut race

The GP La Marseillaise (1.1) was not spared by the wind on Sunday. The course was changed because of the tight Mediterranean wind. Two riders remained out of the grip of the peloton in the opening race of the French calendar. Behind them the race only really started on the Gineste climb. Aimé De Gendt placed himself in the first chasing group in his debut race for Wanty-Gobert. In the sprint for 3rd place he finished 8th, immediately good for a top-10 spot in the day's results. Loïc Vliegen and Pieter Vanspeybrouck were absent due to illness for their opening race.
