Timothy Dupont got a 10th place in Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne (1.HC) on Sunday. The race exploded in the hill zone and specifically on Oude Kwaremont. Wanty-Groupe Gobert was well placed, but a crash from Offredo caused trouble.
The team had to work in the chase and Dupont, Offredo and Van Keirsbulck could make the connection in a chasing group. That chasing group closed the gap with the leading group with 25 kilometers to go. Guillaume Van Keirsbulck tried to avoid the sprint, but he was caught. Offredo set up Dupont for the sprint, in which he could achieve a top 10 spot.
"I had a good feeling on the bike, but with a tenth place in the sprint I can only be insatisfied. I was certainly good enough to battle for the podium. I prove that I can survive the hill zone, but in the last corner I was too far away. If you have to come from far, you know that it will be difficult. "
"In the run-up to the Kwaremont we were just behind a crash. Offredo crashed, the peloton split into several pieces and we had to chase together. But fortunately I did not lose the race over there. "
Hilaire Van der Schueren:
"Today I have a better feeling about the race. We were more present in the race than yesterday. With a bit more luck Van Keirsbulck and Terpstra could stay away in the final. I am satisfied with the performance of a good Van Keirsbulck, Offredo and Dupont. Dupont proves here with a 10th place that he can handle these races. On to the next ones! "
