Bessèges (3) - Backaert only caught in final kilometer, Dupont sprints top 5

Frederik Backaert and Yoann Offredo showed an offensive spirit in the queen stage of Étoile de Bessèges (2.1, 31/01-04/02). After some tries of Offredo Backaert accelerated from the reduced front group with 30km to go. He formed a breakaway with Van Gestel and Combaud. Behind our sprinter Timothy Dupont was able to return in the main chasing group. The three leaders with Backy established a nice lead in nice weather conditions, but with only 700 meters to go they were caught by the reduced peloton. The win was decided in a sprint where Timothy Dupont finished 5th. He is now 7th in the general classification. Tomorrow the riders head to Laudun L'ardoise in a stage over 153km.
